As a junior, Nick made 18 appearances, including 13 starts which was the third-most on the team ... Was 4-6 with a 7.09 ERA ... His 42 strike outs and 72.1 innings pitched were both also good for third on the team ... On March 27 against the University of San Francisco he threw a complete game, only giving up two runs while striking out three and walking none ... He repeated the feat one week later when he again threw a complete game, this time a shutout at Sacramento State ... Struck out six and walked just two in the 131-pitch effort, never allowing a runner past second base ... Was rewarded as Big West Co-Pitcher of the Week ... Capito's consecutive complete games marked the first by a Gaucho pitcher since James Garcia did it in his All-America season in 2001 ... In his first career start as a Gaucho, he allowed just one earned run in 7.1 innings at San Jose State, striking out three ... On April 24th at Long Beach State in the fourth inning of his start he was hit in the head by a line drive and was knocked out, but showing his true grit he returned a week later to start against UC Riverside and made eight more appearances on the year ... Prior to being hit at LBSU, had allowed just one run on two hits with four strikeouts in three full innings ... Against nationally-ranked UCLA on May 18, started and pitched three innings, allowing one run with three punchouts.
