|Title:||Undergraduate Assistant Coach|
Former UCSB player Ryan Cumberland joined the Gaucho coaching staff in the summer of 2016 as an undergraduate assistant coach.
In his role with the Gauchos, Cumberland works closely with the team's catchers on blocking, receiving, and throwing. Cumberland also works with the team's hitters.
Cumberland spent one season as a player with the Gauchos, batting .292 in 21 games played. Despite his brief stint, he provided one of the signature moments of UCSB's 2016 postseason run, lining a go-ahead pinch-hit single down the first base line in the sixth inning against Miami to help deliver a 5-3 win in the College World Series, the program's first-ever CWS win.
Prior to UCSB, he played two seasons at Merced College. In his sophomore year, he slashed .307/.359/.411 en route to First Team All-League and Golden Glove honors.
