Gauchos Travel to Santa Ynez to Work with Pony All Stars

Members of the UCSB coaching staff made a trip to Santa Ynez, Calif. to host a free, 2-hour clinic with the Santa Ynez Pony Baseball All Stars on Wednesday.  The event was part of the Gaucho Baseball Academy's summer camp schedule (Camp Schedule).  The Gaucho staff focused on hitting and defensive drills that allowed the All Stars to have fun while enhancing their skills.

This is the Gauchos' fourth free clinic of the year with a local youth baseball league.  The team has also worked with Goleta Valley South Little League, Santa Barbara Pony League, and Carpinteria Valley Little League. UCSB put on these free youth clinics as a way to give back to the local community, which supported the Gauchos as they made their first NCAA Regional Appearance in 12 years.

The Santa Ynez Youth Clinic kick started the Gaucho Baseball Academy's exciting summer camp schedule.  The Gaucho Baseball Academy has four youth camps, weekly hitting clinics, three high school prospect camps, and private and group lessons planned for the summer.

Youth day camps held at UCSB's Caesar Uyesaka Stadium run from 9:00am – 3:00pm Monday through Friday during the weeks of July 8-12 and July 22-26.  The July 8-12 camp offers youth the opportunity to make it an overnight stay.  Overnight campers stay in Tropicana Student housing, just a block away from the baseball field, with entertainment and activities planned for each night.  Options for early drop-off and late pick-up are available.

Weekly Hitting Clinics held in the lighted batting cages at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium give baseball players of all ages in the Santa Barbara area a chance to hit with Gaucho coaches.  Hitting clinics are held every Monday night from 5:30-6:30pm for just $10!

Private and group lessons allow for one-on-one coaching with the Gaucho staff.  The Gaucho coaches will work with athletes on hitting, pitching, catching, defense, and baseball specific strength and conditioning drills.
