UCSB Baseball to Have 47 Games Broadcast This Season

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UCSB Athletics and the Santa Barbara News Press radio will team up to broadcast a vast majority of UCSB Baseball's games this season, with 30 games being carried over the air by KZSB AM 1290 and online through UCSBgauchos.com and another 17 games airing exclusively online.

Key games on AM 1290 include the Feb. 19 home opener against UCLA, a Mar. 12 matchup against Notre Dame, and a May 21 away game at UCLA. Each and every conference game will also air on AM 1290, starting with a Mar. 28 faceoff at Hawai'i and ending with the season's final game at UC Davis on May 25.

UCSBgauchos.com will simulcast each KZSB broadcast, and will also carry every midweek game as well as key non-conference series against USF and Cal Poly.

The Voice of the Gauchos, Gerry Fall, will return as the play by play man for all baseball broadcasts.

Excitement is building for UCSB's 2013 squad, as the Gauchos have been touted in a number of national publications.

Baseball America ranked the Gauchos current freshman class as the No. 12 recruiting class in the nation, hailed head coach Andrew Checketts as one of the best head coaches under 40 in the nation, and tabbed junior shortstop Brandon Trinkwon as a Preseason All-American and the best defensive infielder in the nation.

In addition to that praise, the Collegiate Baseball News ranked UCSB's recruiting class at No. 18, Perfect Game named Coach Checketts a "Coach On the Rise," and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association selected sophomore lefty Andrew Vasquez as a preseason All-American.

To make sure you are there to see the action, consider one of our many season ticket options. Full season tickets plans start at under $2 per game, and upon purchase, season ticket holders will receive a $10 credit to the Gauchos Shop. Any credits must be redeemed in person at a game and not through the online shop. To purchase season tickets, call 893-UCSB or visit the online ticket office here.
