UCSB Baseball Announces Alumni Weekend 2013

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UCSB Baseball team is proud to announce the events of the annual Alumni Weekend, slated for Friday, Jan. 18 and Saturday, Jan. 19.

The weekend will be highlighted by a Friday night dinner, "A Night For Baseball," with the Santa Barbara Foresters. The evening will feature keynote speaker Ron Roenicke, manager of the Milwaukee Brewers. Roenicke, who guided the Brewers to a franchise record 96 wins and a National League Central Division title in 2011 and also served as bench coach of the Anaheim Angels during their 2002 World Series Championship season, is the father of 2012 UCSB alumnus Lance Roenicke and uncle of 2011 alumnus Jason Roenicke.

Saturday's festivities will include the annual golf tournament and reception at the Glen Annie Golf Club. Registration and check-in will begin at 10 a.m., with a shotgun start at 11 a.m.

The UCSB baseball team, which currently features a freshmen class that was tabbed as the 12th best recruiting class in the country by Baseball America, is slated to kick off the 2013 season on Friday, February 15th, for the first of a three game series at Fresno State. The first home game at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium will be on Tuesday, February 19th, against UCLA.

The 2012 Baseball Reunion weekend was a rousing success, featuring Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle as the keynote speaker. Several prominent UCSB alumni were in attendance, including Texas Rangers infielder Michael Young, St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Skip Schumacker, and Texas Rangers outfielder Ryan Spilborghs.
