Initially expected to provide a strong arm in the bullpen, Campbell rose to the occasion as a backup catcher after injuries hindered the Gaucho catching corps...started 13 games behind the plate and appeared in 25 overall...had 10 assists without committing an error...recorded his first career hit against Pacific on April 21 and had 2 RBI in a game against Cal State Bakersfield on May 25.

His sophomore year, Campbell was awarded Rookie of the Year for his team, batting .394, with 19 RBI, seven doubles, one triple, one home run, and he pitched 13 innings with a 2-0 record, striking out seven ... As a junior, he batted .294, with 20 RBI, five doubles, one triple, and one home run ... Also pitched 37 innings, with a 4-3 record, striking out 24 with three complete games ... In his senior year, he was voted First Team All-Western League, batting .320, with 17 RBI, six doubles, one triple, two home runs, and he pitched 21 innings, with a 2-2 record, striking out 19, and completing three games ...
