Greg emerged as Mr. Versatile for the Gauchos during his freshman season as he earned appearances in the lineup at first base and DH as well as on the mound starting 3 games and relieving in 18 others...at the plate, Greg excelled in the clutch compiling 3 separate 7 game hit streaks, 66 total hits, and a .347 batting average which was good for 2nd on the squad and fifth in the Big West...finished tied for the team lead with 35 RBI...highlights include a 4-5 game with a double, 3 RBI, and a run against Fresno State on February 28...on the mound Greg was available for spot starts and earned the closing role for the Gauchos...in his 3 starts he struck out 20 in 17.1 innings including a season high 10K against Fresno State on March 13...in relief he led he team with 5 saves...finished the year with a 3-4 record and a 3.88 ERA in 46.1 innings...recieved multiple awards including 2nd Team All Big West honors, Louisville Slugger Freshman All America, and earned a place on the the Two-Way Player watch list.
Was a three-year letterwinner for head coach Mike Dodd at Westminster High ... He pitched, played outfield and first base for the Lions ... His sophomore year he batted .350 while leading his team in RBI and doubles ... In his junior year he batted .410 with four home runs and led the team in all categories, pitching in 12 games with a 10-2 record and an ERA of 1.60 ... As a senior, he batted .467 with three home runs, and went 8-5 as a pitcher and finished second in the county in strikeouts.
