Gauchos Host S.D. Christian at 4:00 PM Friday in Final Home Game of 2014
The Gauchos will host San Diego Christian on Friday, Dec. 19 at 4:00 p.m. in their final Thunderdome appearance of 2014. The game will tip-off at 4:00 p.m. and will be followed by a UCSB women’s game against visiting LSU which is slated to tip at 7:30 p.m.

Gauchos Host LSU in Primetime Matchup
Last week, UCSB fell to Pepperdine 66-44 in the Thunderdome. The Waves picked up a revenge win on Friday, as the Gauchos took a 77-69 decision in Malibu a season ago. Onome Jemerigbe led UCSB with 12 points and added a pair of assists. Overall, the Gauchos shot 32.7 percent from the floor, while Pepperdine finished with a 48.1 shooting clip. Though UCSB was able to cut a 17-point deficit down to eight points by the end of the first half, the team struggled in opening the second and could not keep up with the Waves.

Johnny Dee scored 22 points, Chris Anderson added 17 and the duo spearheaded an assault that saw the University of San Diego make 10-of-14 shots from outside the three-point arc en route to a 79-65 win over UC Santa Barbara on Thursday night.

No. 4 Gauchos Receive Highest Preseason Ranking Since '01, Tabbed to Finish Second by MPSF Coaches
Coming off the most successful regular season in the tenure of seventh-year head coach Rick McLaughlin, the UC Santa Barbara men's volleyball is being picked to do big things in the 2015 season. The squad was ranked No. 4 in the AVCA Division I-II Preseason Poll, it was announced this week, while today the MPSF Coaches Poll had the Gauchos finishing second in the ultra-competitive conference.

UC Santa Barbara sophomore forward Nick DePuy and sophomore left back Ismaila Jome were both named to the NSCAA All-Far West Region Team, it was announced this week.

Gauchos Open Two-Game Homestand Thursday Night as USD Invades Thunderdome
UCSB returns home with a 4-4 overall record and is coming off of a tough 80-73 overtime loss at SMU on Monday. Since losing their first two games of the season (at Kansas and at Florida-Gulf Coast) the Gauchos have won four of their last six. In their last home game on Dec. 4 against Seattle University, they posted an 87-46 win.

UCSB Returns to the Thunderdome, Hosts Pepperdine Friday
The Gauchos went 0-2 last week with losses to Washington State and San Diego State. Despite the defeats, UCSB showed that it is improving with each game. Against the Cougars, the team came up with its best scoring effort of the season in making 40 percent of its shots, while they played in a tight battle with the Aztecs in a game that came down to the final minute. In trying to overcome a 10-point SDSU lead at halftime, UCSB shot 48 percent from the field in the second half and came within four points with 40 seconds left in the game.

UC Santa Barbara came within an eyelash of completing an incredible comeback and defeating SMU on Monday night, but instead settled for an 80-73 overtime road loss to the Mustangs.

Gauchos Play Mustangs in Big D Monday
UCSB hits the road to Dallas with a 4-3 overall record. The Gauchos are coming off of a resounding 87-46 home win over Seattle University that may have been their most complete win of the season. Santa Barbara went 2-1 at the Great Alaska Shootout over Thanksgiving weekend , winning their first two games against Washington State (71-43) and Mercer (65-60 in overtime) respectively before falling to Colorado State in the championship game, 65-63. The Gauchos have now won four of their last five games.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – In a game that came down to the final minute, UCSB came up short in a 64-58 loss to San Diego State, despite being down just four points with 42 seconds to go. The road loss at the Viejas Arena moved the Gauchos' record to 0-8, while the Aztecs improve to 3-4.

The third and final day of the Texas Invitational featured some of the top Gaucho swimmers in their top events. After tallying results from all three days, a total of eight NCAA time standards were reached. At the halfway point in the season, this is a terrific achievement for the Gauchos.

Alan Williams posted his sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds and in the process broke UC Santa Barbara's career record for rebounds as the Gauchos rolled past visiting Seattle on Thursday night, 87-46.
