Jacome's Dozen Gives No. 13 Gauchos Win in Tight Game With LBSU
A day after watching starting pitchers Dillon Tate and Kyle Friedrichs turn in complete game gems, No. 13 UC Santa Barbara's junior lefty Justin Jacome decided to get in on the action himself, delivering arguably the best start of his career as the Gauchos evened their series against Long Beach State with a 3-1 win on Saturday afternoon.

After dropping the doubles point and the first completed singles match to fall behind 2-0, the No. 66 UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team stormed back to win the remaining singles matches en route to a 5-2 win at Boise State on Saturday.

After taking a 1-0 lead through one quarter of play Saturday, 15th-ranked UC Santa Barbara dropped its Big West Conference opener to No. 5 UC Irvine, 6-4, despite 13 saves by goalkeeper Mackenzie Brokaw.

No. 7 UCSB Drops Heartbreaker Five-Set Decision to USC
A trio of Gauchos finished with double-doubles, led by senior outside hitter Kevin Donohue's 15-kill, 16-dig performance, but it turned out to not be enough as No. 7 UC Santa Barbara squandered a 2-0 lead to fall to No. 9 USC in five sets on Friday night at the Galen Center.

Dillon Tate was spectacular in his start on Friday afternoon against Long Beach State. Unfortunately for Tate and UC Santa Barbara, Dirtbag starter Kyle Friedrichs was also practically unhittable as he pitched his team to a 2-0 win in the Big West opener for both teams.

Gauchos Return Home to Host UC Irvine
After a three-week break, UC Santa Barbara will be back in the pool on Saturday to host UC Irvine in their home Big West opener. The Gauchos have won four of its past six matches, including a 7-5 upset win over then No. 10 UC Davis in their inaugural conference match up. UC Irvine is riding a four-match winning streak heading into Saturday and has won seven of its past eight contests.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (10-7) extended their win streak to five straight matches and stay perfect in the Big West as they defeated Hawaii (7-8) by a score of 5-2.

UCSB Opens Big West Season with Cal State Fullerton
UCSB went 3-1 at the Santa Clara Round Robin, as the team continues to play its best softball of the season. The team hit for a combined .353 batting average and a .941 slugging percentage over the weekend with Arianna Palomares pacing the roster with seven hits. MeShalon Moore was impressive as well with three doubles, a home run, and a 1.182 slugging percentage. Freshman pitcher Lena Mayer stood out in the circle with a pair of wins, including a complete game effort, and allowed just one earned run. UCSB’s 10-2 win over Brown was the team’s first mercy rule victory of the season, as three Gauchos hit home runs. UCSB will be entering conference play on a high note in having gone 5-1 the past two weeks.

The seventh-ranked UC Santa Barbara men's volleyball team shook off some rust on Wednesday night following an almost two-week layoff, sweeping the Concordia University Irvine Eagles at Rob Gym with set scores of 25-18, 26-24, 27-25.

After a taxing weekend for all three teams involved in this weekend's events, UC Santa Barbara sophomore righty Shane Bieber delivered just what the Gauchos needed, tossing 74 pitches in a near-perfect 7 2/3 inning outing as his squad bested Dartmouth on Sunday afternoon at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.
