UCSB Dominates at Lancer Mini-Tournament, Scores Combined 29 Goals in Two Wins
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UCSB rolled through its competition at the Lancer Mini-Tournament on Saturday, as the Gauchos won back-to-back matches in dominant matches. First, they downed Pomona-Pitzer 13-3 and later went on to topple Whittier 16-5, tying a season-high in goals scored.

No. 8 UCSB Offense Has Near-Spotless Night in Three-Set Steamroll of Stanford
No. 8 UC Santa Barbara hit .440 as a team on Saturday night, committing just seven attacking errors – tied for the fewest miscues by the team since the 2011 season – en route to a 3-0 sweep of No. 13 Stanford in the final contest of a four-match homestand for the Gauchos at Rob Gym.

UC Irvine used an 18-3 surge midway through the second half to turn a 42-36 lead into a 60-39 advantage en route to a 77-55 win over visiting UC Santa Barbara on Saturday night.

UCSB Men Come Out Victorious, Women Fall to Cal Poly in Final Duel Meet of the Season
The final duel meet of the 2014-15 season featured a match-up between UC Santa Barbara and rival Cal Poly. The Gaucho men won 12 out of 14 events, resulting in a 169-110 victory over the Mustangs. Senior captain Wade Allen led the team, winning all four of his events handedly. Despite the addition scored Mustang diving events, the women only lost to Cal Poly by less than 20 points, the final score being 135-152.

Jemerigbe Forces Overtime, UCSB Falls 60-54 in Heartbreaker to Davis
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – After Onome Jemerigbe connected on a clutch three-pointer in the final seconds to force overtime, UCSB went on to be outscored by UC Davis 12-6 in the extra period, as the Gauchos fell 60-54 in a heartbreaking loss in the Thunderdome.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (2-2) earned their first home win of the season Saturday when they defeated the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Rebels (0-2) by a score of 6-1.

UCSB Swimmer Josh Smith Selected Among 160 to Attend International Film Festival
Recently Joshua Smith, a third year film student and member of the UC Santa Barbara men’s swimming team, was among 160 students worldwide to be selected for an internship at the Cannes Film Festival in France this May. He is the first member of UCSB Intercollegiate Athletics to attend an international film festival of this prestige.

John McCutcheon Named Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at UCSB, Will Assume Duties Mar. 2
John McCutcheon has been hired as Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at UC Santa Barbara, Chancellor Henry T. Yang announced Thursday. McCutcheon, who will be formally introduced at a press conference on Tuesday, Feb. 3, has held the same position at the University of Massachusetts for the past 11 years. He will begin his tenure at UCSB on Mar. 2, 2015.

Gauchos Return Home to Host UC Irvine, UC Davis
Last week, UCSB played in two competitive battles, but dropped both decisions with a 89-74 loss at UC Riverside and a 54-50 defeat at Cal State Fullerton. The Gauchos had a sluggish start against the Highlanders in trailing by 19 points at halftime, but rallied with 48 second half points. Makala Roper led UCSB with a career-high 23 points and drained five three-pointers. Against the Titans, Santa Barbara found itself in a see-saw battle that featured eight lead changes and five tied scores. Kristine Brance reached a career best with 15 points and three triples in the game, but Fullerton ultimately took home the win behind Chante Miles’s 26-point performance.

UCSB Athletics will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 1989-90 Gaucho basketball team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, Mar. 7 at halftime of that afternoon’s televised game against Cal Poly.

No. 8 UC Santa Barbara battled back from a 2-0 set deficit and evened the score in Saturday night’s rematch with No. 4 BYU at Rob Gym, but the Gauchos ultimately weren’t able to complete the comeback effort, falling in five sets (25-20, 25-19, 19-25, 19-25, 15-13).
