Freshman forward Ludwig Ahl recorded a brace and sophomore left back Drew Murphy added a goal and an assist to lead UC Santa Barbara to a 4-1 win over Drake in the team's final non-conference home game of the season Sunday evening at Harder Stadium.

UC Santa Barbara scored six goals in its last match, a 6-1 win at Pacific. On Sunday, the Gauchos continued flexing their offensive muscle in a 4-0 win over visiting Duquesne at Harder Stadium, extending their win streak to four in a row and their unbeaten string to five.

Guijarro Fifth and Moreno Sixth at Stanford Invitational- Men Place Second
The UCSB men placed second at the 41st Annual Stanford Cross Country Invitational. They scored a combined 74 points, one away from the meet winner Washington State at 73. Bryan Guijarro led a trio of Gauchos who scored in the top-ten. On the women's side, Dani Moreno led the Gauchos with a sixth place finish. The UCSB women were 10th overall.

New Role for DePuy Pays Off in 1-0 UCSB Win Against San Diego State
UC Santa Barbara head coach Tim Vom Steeg decided to mix things up with his lineup ahead of Friday night's contest against No. 27 San Diego State, and the gambit paid off as sophomore Nick DePuy – starting at forward for the first time this season – banged home a rebound in the 21st minute to lead the Gauchos to a 1-0 victory over the Aztecs in front of 2,069 at Harder Stadium.

UCSB Puts 3-Game Win Streak on the Line Sunday, Hosts Duquesne
UC Santa Barbara will host Duquesne University on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 1:00 p.m. The game against the Dukes will be the Gauchos’ only game of the weekend and it will be their final non-conference game of the season.

UCSB Opens Big West Play with Cal Poly
Last weekend, UCSB played at home for the first time this season and gave its fans two dominant wins over Santa Clara (3-0) and Northern Illinois (3-1). After the perfect 2-0 weekend, Phoebe Grunt and Jaylen Villanueva were named to the All-Tournament team, while Ali Spindt was named the MVP. With the two wins, the Gauchos are now 8-3 in the Thunderdome under Lantagne Welch and are currently on a four-match home winning streak dating back to last season.

Gaucho Basketball Players Help Build a Future for Others
The UC Santa Barbara men's basketball team doesn't start classes until Oct. 2, but this week they received a different type of education. On Wednesday, Gaucho players donated 40 hours of "sweat equity" as they took part in Habitat for Humanity's Canon Perdido Affordable Homes project, which is building 12 homes for 12 future Habitat Homeowners, all first-time homeowners, in Santa Barbara.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Ali Spindt was voted the Big West Defensive Player of the Week after anchoring UCSB's defense through a perfect 2-0 weekend. In being named the UCSB/Cal Poly Tournament MVP, the libero picked up six digs per set and recorded a career-high 27 scoops against Northern Illinois.

UCSB Opens Home Schedule with Santa Clara, NIU
UCSB started the Cal Molten Classic with a sweep of Nevada to extend its winning streak to three matches. However, the Gauchos would go on to drop two matches on the final day of the tournament with a 3-0 loss to Pacific and a 3-1 decision to Cal. While UCSB's offense had a great outing against the Wolf Pack with a team .257 hitting percentage and 46 kills, it was sophomore Ali Spindt who stood out through the weekend on defense. The outside hitter turned libero was named All-Tournament after averaging 5.1 digs per set, highlighted by her season-high 23-dig performance against the Golden Bears.
