UCSB Opens Big West Season with Cal State Fullerton
UCSB went 3-1 at the Santa Clara Round Robin, as the team continues to play its best softball of the season. The team hit for a combined .353 batting average and a .941 slugging percentage over the weekend with Arianna Palomares pacing the roster with seven hits. MeShalon Moore was impressive as well with three doubles, a home run, and a 1.182 slugging percentage. Freshman pitcher Lena Mayer stood out in the circle with a pair of wins, including a complete game effort, and allowed just one earned run. UCSB’s 10-2 win over Brown was the team’s first mercy rule victory of the season, as three Gauchos hit home runs. UCSB will be entering conference play on a high note in having gone 5-1 the past two weeks.

The seventh-ranked UC Santa Barbara men's volleyball team shook off some rust on Wednesday night following an almost two-week layoff, sweeping the Concordia University Irvine Eagles at Rob Gym with set scores of 25-18, 26-24, 27-25.

UCSB to Play in Santa Clara Round Robin
Last week, UCSB ended a four-game skid in sweeping its doubleheader with Charleston Southern at Campus Diamond. Both Ashley Ludlow and Alex Pingree threw complete games in the wins, as they held the Buccaneers to five total runs on the day. With the bat, MeShalon Moore and Shelby Wisdom lifted the Gauchos to win the first game in the bottom of the seventh, while the team put together another late-game push to complete the sweep in game two.
