No. 5 UCSB Eliminates UCLA in MPSF Quarters With Five-Set Comeback Win
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The fourth-seeded and fifth ranked UC Santa Barbara men’s volleyball team fought back from a 14-7 deficit in a win-or-go-home fourth set to ultimately score a five-game victory over fifth-seeded UCLA in the MPSF Tournament Quarterfinals in front of a season-high 2,000 fans at Rob Gym on Saturday night, setting up a second round matchup at top-seeded BYU, whom the Gauchos previously upset in the final week of the regular season.

Gauchos Fall to No. 3 Seed after 4-3 Loss at Cal Poly
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Gauchos (8-13, 3-1) fell just short in their bid to become the No. 1 seed at the upcoming Big West tournament as they fell to rivals Cal Poly (9-12, 4-1) in San Luis Obispo on Saturday in the annual Blue-Green Rivalry match. UC Santa Barbara dropped the doubles point and split their singles matches in the 4-3 loss.

Long Beach State starter Josh Frye tossed a complete game, five-hit shutout to lead the Dirtbags to a tight 1-0 win over No. 14 UC Santa Barbara on Friday night, negating a strong bounceback start from the Gauchos' own Austin Pettibone, who allowed just one run over six innings.

In the first game of a three game series at Big West foe UC Davis (15-25), UC Santa Barbara (26-17) was unable to produce much offensively, missing numerous scoring chances while falling 5-2. The loss ended a five game winning streak for the Gauchos, all in conference play.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Kristen Clark was named a Top 25 Finalist for the National Freshman of the Year award it was announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Thursday. She is the first ever Gaucho to capture this honor.

Sophomore setter Jonah Seif was named to the All-MPSF First Team while four other Gauchos earned All-Conference recognition as well, the league announced on Thursday afternoon. UC Santa Barbara's five All-Conference honorees are the most in program history.

UCSB Takes Five Game Winning Streak to Davis
Last week, UCSB made a jump in the conference standings after pulling off a series sweep at Cal State Northridge. Now with a 6-3 record, UCSB broke out of a three-way tie for fourth place last week and has elevated to the number two spot, as Long Beach State reamins atop the Big West at 9-0. The Gauchos have now taken four straight series victories from CSUN with two sweeps. UCSB has picked up five straight wins.

The UC Santa Barbara men’s basketball program will host two of its annual camps, a Youth Day Camp and Team Camp, in June, and a second Youth Skills Camp in August, it was announced Thursday. Both camps will be held on campus at the Thunderdome.
