The UC Santa Barbara men’s basketball team has added another weapon to its already outstanding arsenal with the signing to a National Letter of Intent of DaJuan Smith, a versatile 6-foot-3 guard from Mt. San Jacinto Junior College, head coach Bob Williams announced Wednesday.

UC Santa Barbara junior Lauren Martin (Fresno, Calif./Clovis West HS) scored a pair of important goals to give her team momentum heading into the conference tournament, and she earned Big West Women's Water Polo Player of the Week honors.

UCSB Returns Home to Host Hawai’i
Last week, UCSB won its third consecutive conference series and second as the road team. After UC Davis dealt the Gauchos a decisive 5-2 loss in game one, UCSB responded with consecutive wins behind two outstanding pitching performances from Shelby Wisdom. The junior allowed just two earned runs in the second game and tossed a four-hit shutout in Saturday’s rubber game. Freshman Stacy Cavazos scored the game winning run to clinch the series, as Arianna Palomares drove her in on a sacrifice fly.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The fourth-seeded and fifth ranked UC Santa Barbara men’s volleyball team fought back from a 14-7 deficit in a win-or-go-home fourth set to ultimately score a five-game victory over fifth-seeded UCLA in the MPSF Tournament Quarterfinals in front of a season-high 2,000 fans at Rob Gym on Saturday night, setting up a second round matchup at top-seeded BYU, whom the Gauchos previously upset in the final week of the regular season.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Gauchos (8-13, 3-1) fell just short in their bid to become the No. 1 seed at the upcoming Big West tournament as they fell to rivals Cal Poly (9-12, 4-1) in San Luis Obispo on Saturday in the annual Blue-Green Rivalry match. UC Santa Barbara dropped the doubles point and split their singles matches in the 4-3 loss.

Long Beach State starter Josh Frye tossed a complete game, five-hit shutout to lead the Dirtbags to a tight 1-0 win over No. 14 UC Santa Barbara on Friday night, negating a strong bounceback start from the Gauchos' own Austin Pettibone, who allowed just one run over six innings.
