SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UCSB split its matches in Day Two of the Winter Invitational with a staggering 21-1 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and a 20-8 loss to No. 2 UCLA.

Gaucho Comeback Bid Falls Just Short in Five-Set Loss to No. 4 BYU
No. 8 UC Santa Barbara battled back from a 2-0 set deficit and evened the score in Saturday night’s rematch with No. 4 BYU at Rob Gym, but the Gauchos ultimately weren’t able to complete the comeback effort, falling in five sets (25-20, 25-19, 19-25, 19-25, 15-13).

FULLERTON, Calif. – In a game that featured eight lead changes and five ties, UCSB came up short in a see-saw that battle that ended with Cal State Fullerton on top 54-50 at Titan Gym.

Gauchos Use Huge Second Half Run to Blow Past Fullerton, 68-49
On Saturday afternoon, UC Santa Barbara found out that there’s nothing like a 19-0 second half run to make-up for the absence of your best player, a second starter and a another regular. Trailing 40-33 with just under 17 minutes to play, the Gauchos (10-9 overall, 3-2 in Big West), who were missing Alan Williams, Gabe Vincent and DaJuan Smith, outscored Cal State Fullerton (8-12, 0-5) 19-0 to take a 52-40 lead on a lay-up by John Green lead with 10:46 left in the game. The Titans never got closer than nine the rest of the way.

Gauchos Dominate in Home Opener, Defeat Westmont 6-1
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara men’s tennis opened their home season with a dominating performance against cross town rivals Westmont (0-1) in front of a large crowd on Saturday. The Gauchos (1-2) shook off a loss in doubles and went on to sweep all six singles matches to record their first victory of the season, 6-1.

UCSB Women Narrowly Edged Out by Davis in Final Home Meet of the Season
In one of their toughest match-ups of the season the UC Santa Barbara Gaucho women dueled MPSF rival UC Davis in their senior day and last home meet of the season. Each point counted in this tight meet and it ended up coming down to a critical decision for Coach Gregg Wilson regarding the relays.

UC Santa Barbara junior setter dished out 37 assists – just over 12 per game – and directed his eighth-ranked Gauchos to a .329 hitting percentage to steer them to a three-set sweep over No. 4 BYU in Friday night's MPSF contest at Rob Gym.

UCSB Men Victorious Over Pacific in their Senior Day Meet
The final home meet of the men’s season featured a duel between the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos and the Pacific Tigers. UCSB emerged victorious scoring 131 over Pacific’s 108. The UCSB women engaged in a three-way duel meet with the women of Pacific and Loyola Marymount. The Gaucho women beat LMU 187-73, but fell to Pacific 108-149. The men’s team also honored their seven seniors today.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Makala Roper led UCSB to its most prolific scoring performance of the season, but it was not enough as UC Riverside out-dueled the Gauchos in the 89-74 decision on Thursday night.

UCSB’s Dylan Kubick Named MPSF Athlete of the Week
UC Santa Barbara sophomore Dylan Kubick was awarded the MPSF Male Athlete of the Week after his victories at UNLV last Saturday. Kubick won the 200 freestyle (1:40.93) and 200 IM (1:52.25), and also took fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:08.81). This is Kubick’s first career MPSF honor. Kubick’s points contributed to a huge victory over the men of UNLV, a feat that hasn’t been achieved in over a decade.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara men’s tennis will look to bounce back from their season-opening road trip with a match against Westmont at home on Saturday. The Gauchos enter the match 0-2 while their local NAIA opponents will be playing in their first dual match of the season.

Williams Sidelined, Gauchos Host UC Riverside Thursday
UC Santa Barbara will try end a two-game losing streak when it hosts UC Riverside on Thursday night. The game against the Highlanders will be the first of a two-game homestand. The Gauchos will also host Cal State Fullerton on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. before hitting the road for games at UC Davis and UC Irvine the following weekend.

UCSB Hits the Road to Riverside, Fullerton this Weekend
Last week, UCSB fell at Cal State Northridge 81-48 and lost in the Thunderdome to Long Beach State 81-44. The Matadors shot lights-out in Thursday’s game by going 57.4 percent from the field. The Gauchos simply could not keep pace with CSUN’s offense, as they were led by Onome Jemerigbe and Jasmine Ware who each scored eight points. In hosting Long Beach State, UCSB saw Makala Roper go off for a career-high 15 points, as she drained 3-5 shots from three-point range. UCSB took the lead at 19-18 after going on a 13-3 run with 7:56 left in the first half. However, the 49ers called a timeout and returned with a 17-2 scoring spree that secured their lead for the rest of the game.

DALLAS, Texas – The Gauchos (0-2) lost their second straight 6-1 decision in Texas, this time to the SMU Mustangs (1-0) in Dallas on Monday. The SMU Mustangs opened up their new multimillion dollar complex with a victory after defeating the Gauchos in the doubles competition and five of six singles matches.

Hawai'i outside hitter Sinisa Zarkovic recorded 17 kills and a match-high 15 digs to lead the Rainbow Warriors to a 3-1 win (22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-19) over No. 3 UC Santa Barbara on Sunday evening.
