Michelle Royals joined the UCSB sports performance staff in July of 2016. She arrived to Santa Barbara after working as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the College of the Holy Cross where she worked with women’s lacrosse, field hockey, and the men’s and women’s tennis teams.
She earned her master’s degree in strength and conditioning at Springfield College in 2016, while she also worked as a graduate assistant, specifically working with women’s gymnastics.
Before pursuing her master’s, she also completed an internship at Springfield College, which was her third internship after stints at the University of Kansas and the University of Connecticut.
As an undergraduate, Michelle earned her bachelor of science degree in neuroscience from Trinity College in 2012 where she was also a member of the women’s basketball team. With the Bantams, she was a team captain and was one of her team’s leading scorers.
In addition to her degrees, Michelle also holds certifications as both a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and as a Level 1 Weightlifting Coach through United States Weightlifting.
