Larissa White is the Director of Video Production and works out
of the Athletics Communications Office at UCSB. She joined
the department in September of 2010.
In her position, White develops and supervises a Video Production Department that includes 10 or more student interns. As a group, the VPD films and edits video features highlighting Gaucho student-athletes and coaches as well as athletic department accomplishments for TV, web and video board audiences. In addition to her on and off-camera video duties, White serves as a live field reporter and directs the live video board broadcasts for UCSB soccer games that regularly draw crowds in excess of 5,000 fans. She and her interns also create website video recaps for numerous UCSB athletics events each week.
One of White's most impressive video creations is the weekly television show "Gauchos in Thirty." The show, which airs during the school year in Santa Barbara on KEYT Channel 3, an ABC affiliate, is feature-based and produced wholly in house.
A native of Ventura, Calif., White came to UCSB after serving as Coordinating Producer at Cultural Global Media. In her position, she was responsible for hiring full broadcast crews for domestic and international soccer broadcasts, including MLS, MLL, CONCACAF and NSCAA games. The games aired primarily on Fox Sports.
A 2009 graduate of the University of Michigan, White served as a News Producer, News and Sports Report and Sports Segment Host at WOLV-TV in Ann Arbor from September 2006-May 2009. She hosted "White Out," a man-on-the-street segment asking UM students their opinion on weekly sports topics for "You Say Maize, I Say Blue," a "Pardon the Interruption" type show. During her time at WOLV, White was a weekly sports anchor and specialty segment guest on "Sportsnite," the show highlighting all Michigan sports. She also produced and anchored "Newsfeed," Ann Arbor's only local newscast.
In addition to her time at WOLV, White interned at ABC12/WJRT in Flint, Cumulus Media, Inc. in Ventura and at Fox Sports in Los Angeles.
An avid runner, White completed the Boston Marathon in 2012 in a time of 3:23.55. She is fluent in Spanish and served as the Big Ten Network's "2009 Michigan Apprentice."
