Bienusa joined the UCSB athletic training staff in September of 2017. Originally from Placerville, California, she currently oversees the medical care for women’s basketball, men and women’s swim and women’s water polo teams.
Prior to UCSB, she was in the role of intern athletic trainer at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Ala. While there, she was a part of the team working to rebuild the Blazer football program while also overseeing the medical care of the men’s and women’s tennis teams.
In 2016, Bienusa completed her master’s degree in psychology of sport with an emphasis in psychology of injury at California State University, Fresno. While she was a graduate assistant athletic trainer there, she primarily worked with football and men’s and women’s golf teams. Bienusa was also involved with the undergraduate athletic training education program as a preceptor. During her 2 years at Fresno, she saw success with the football team going to the Mountain West Championships and Hawaii Bowl.
Before she became a board certified athletic trainer in 2014, Wednesday completed her bachelor’s degree in athletic training at California State University, Sacramento. While there, she gained clinical experience working with a variety of sports including men’s soccer, women’s basketball, rowing and football.
Wednesday is is a licensed and certified athletic trainer and is American Red Cross certified First Aid/CPR/AED.
