Campaign for Gaucho Park
The beauty of UCSB and Santa Barbara should be showcased within
it's venues. Baseball “parks” are better at
storytelling than “stadiums” and the future place for
Santa Barbara to enjoy baseball, day and night, will be
Gaucho Park at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium. A place
where the long history of Gauchos players, generous donors and
community pride will be told.
The estimated $1.8 million project to enhance the diamond for
baseball in Santa Barbara is broken into two phases. Phase One is
the park/plaza entrance ($600,000), which will include:
- Plaza with ticket and concessions
booths, landscaping and paved entry (donation
secured)
- “Gino’s Corner” – the large baseball in
place will pay tribute to generous life of Gino Filippin. ($25,000
donation)
- “Big Leaguers Lane” – wall honoring the long
history of UCSB’s pros by team. ($60,000 donation)
- “Hammerhead Wall” – the story of the infamous
students who supported their Gauchos during the 80’s and
90’s. ($20,000 donation)
- ADA restrooms ($300,000 donation)
Phase Two is a complete field upgrade ($500,000) and lighting
system for the hosting of night games ($700,000).
