Massari Selected for NCAA I-AAA Mentor Program

Mark Massari

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - NCAA Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association has announced that Mark Massari, UCSB's Director of Athletics since 2008, has been selected as a mentor in the Division I-AAA Mentoring Program.

The program, entering its inaugural year, matches promising administrators with experienced athletics directors across the nation.

"I'm happy to be part of launching this program,” Massari said.  “Serving this association of non-football playing schools is important to UCSB and myself for two really good reasons: One, because of the time and hard work my predecessor Gary Cunningham put into forming this group. Secondly, so that a third of the programs that make up NCAA Division I have a voice. Talking about issues with the next generation of administrators is important."

Massari also serves on the NCAA Division I-AAA Executive Committee, is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and serves the Big West Conference on its Athletic Directors Committee for Television & Marketing. This fall, he will again serve as faculty at the Collegiate Athletics Leadership Symposium hosted by the University of Maryland, College Park.

Kayla Smith, the Gauchos' Academic Success Coordinator and Sean Strauch, Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance, will also be in the mentoring program,
