Dr. Jeremy Bettle was named UCSB's Director of Sports Performance on Feb. 27, 2009 and has since been elevated to Assistant Athletics Director. He is directly responsible for the strength and conditioning of all 20 intercollegiate programs at UCSB.
Prior to joining the Gaucho family, Bettle was the Director of Wellness and Athletic Programs for Hayashida Physical Therapy in Santa Barbara while concurrently serving as the regional strength and conditioning coach for USA Rugby.
The roster of elite-level athletes Bettle trains on an individual basis includes AVP Tour professional and UCSB alumnus, Brooke (Niles) Hansen.
Among the variety of worldwide professional positions that Bettle has held includes serving as a strength and conditioning coach at Middle Tennessee State University, a technical manager for USA Rugby, and a speed development consultant with Viadana Rugby, the premier professional rugby organization in Italy.
Bettle holds a Ph.D in Human Performance from Middle Tennessee State. He also has a Master's in exercise science from Middle Tennessee State and earned a Bachelor's in sports and exercise science from Leeds University (England). He also holds a CSCS certificate from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
