Head coach Andrew Checketts and outfielder Joey Epperson from the UCSB Baseball team, and men's volleyball coach Rick McLaughlin are the featured guests on this week's Talk'n Gauchos radio show, which will air live on AM 1290 KZSB from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday night.
As always, the show will broadcast live from the Beachside Bar Café on beautiful Goleta Beach and will be hosted by The Voice of the Gauchos, Gerry Fall.
An online audio simulcast of the program can be found on UCSB's listen live page.
Checketts and the baseball team are coming off a home series win over Wichita State, capped off by a dramatic walk off victory in Sunday’s rubber match. The Gauchos have started the season 13-3 and have been featured in different national rankings, including Collegiate Baseball where they’re a season-best 15th in the nation. This week, UCSB takes on Wagner College in a four-game series at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.
Epperson is currently on a 22-game hitting streak and leads the Big West with a .484 batting average and a .566 on-base percentage. The senior has been nominated for Big West Field Player of the Week for three consecutive weeks and has hit a collective .511 during that span.
McLaughlin and the No. 5 Gauchos have won four of its past five matches, including a thrilling 3-2 victory over USC last week. With marquee wins against UCLA and the Trojans, Santa Barbara owns the second best home court record in the MPSF at 9-2. The team is competing in the thick of their conference schedule and will embark on a four-game road swing starting next weekend.
