Bob Williams, Carlene Mitchell, Kyle Boswell to Appear on Talk'n Gauchos

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara men's basketball coach Bob Williams, guard Kyle Boswell, and women's basketball head coach Carlene Mitchell will be the featured guests on this week's edition of Talk'n Gauchos.

The show, which airs live from 6-7pm on KZSB AM 1290 the Santa Barbara News-Press Radio Station and online at UCSBgauchos.com, is broadcast weekly from the Beachside Bar and Café on Goleta Beach.

This week, "Talk'n Gauchos" will be hosted by Mitchell Clements, the play-by-play announcer for UCSB women's basketball.

Fans are encouraged to attend the radio show, as those attending "Talk'n Gauchos" will be eligible for a raffle and other UCSB prizes as well as the chance to meet the show's guests in person.

Boswell, a senior, had a solid season debut this past Sunday, collecting 13 points in a 88-65 Gauchos win over visiting Cal State East Bay. Boswell is an integral part of a team that has been ranked as high as No. 17 in national mid-major polls and was picked by the Big West coaches to finish second in the conference. The mechanical engineering major was recently selected as one of 30 finalists for the 2013-14 Senior CLASS Award, which is is based on excellence in the areas of classroom, community, character and competition. It focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impace as leaders in their communities.

Bob Williams -- the Gauchos' all-time leader in wins -- is entering his 15th season on the bench. He will head a team that will look quite a bit different than the squad that won 20 games last season.

Williams, Boswell, and the rest of the men's basketball team will open up the regular season this Friday night when they host Hawaii-Pacific.

Carlene Mitchell returns for her third season at the helm of the women's program, and will attempt to become the first coach in program history to reach the postseason in each of the first three years of their tenure. The women's squad opens their season with an exhibition game against Vanguard on Monday night before starting regular season play this Sunday by hosting Occidental at 2:00 p.m.
