SANTA BARBARA - The UC Santa Barbara Athletics Department is gearing up for the 2009 All Gaucho Reunion, scheduled on campus for Friday-Sunday, April 24-26. Among other events, Athletics will hold an evening reception on Friday night and a breakfast on Saturday morning.
All former Gaucho athletes are invited to attend a Friday reception from 5:00-9:00 p.m. in the Phil Womble Hall of Champions located in the main lobby area of the Intercollegiate Athletics Building. All who attend will have the opportunity to meet Mark Massari, UCSB's new Director of Athletics. In addition, current Gaucho student-athletes and coaches will be on hand to meet and greet. Children are welcome and, in fact, there will be a supervised children's area with movies and activities planned.
On Saturday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. there will be a Legacy Breakfast, also in the Phil Womble Hall of Champions. All former UCSB student-athletes who represented the school in Legacy Sports - such as football, gymnastics and wrestling - will be recognized for their contributions. Also, the 1989 women's water polo club, which won a national championship and helped set the stage for the sport becoming intercollegiate, will be honored.
Attendees for both events are encouraged to park in the Mesa Parking Structure on campus. A shuttle will be available to transport attendees from the parking structure to the Intercollegiate Athletics Building. For directions and campus maps, click here.
For more information or to RSVP for either event, please contact Christina Baglas at Christina.Baglas@athletics.ucsb.edu or call (805) 893-5372.
Gaucho Athletics has numerous other events over the All Gaucho Reunion weekend, including a pre-game reception at baseball saluting the 1968 UCSB baseball team. The reception for the 1968 squad will begin at noon at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium, just prior to the 1:00 p.m. baseball game against visiting Cal Poly.
All Gaucho Reunion attendees will be admitted free to all three baseball games over the weekend (must show Alumni Association-issued name tag).
To purchase tickets for the Saturday baseball game against Cal Poly, or the Friday and Sunday games, please call (805) 893-UCSB, visit the Ticket Office located inside the Intercollegiate Athletics building on campus or click here.
