SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Christina Baglas has been named UC Santa Barbara's Deputy Athletics Director for Development, a position she has held on an interim basis for a year, Director of Athletics John McCutcheon announced Tuesday.
"Christina has been our interim director for a year and we are extremely happy that she emerged as the successful candidate from a strong field for the permanent position," McCutcheon said. "Christina has given great leadership to our advancement program and I am confident that will continue."
"I am very excited to take on this role as Deputy Athletics Director," Baglas said. "Our development team has grown and had great accomplishments over the past few years and I look forward to building on that success. I will work hard with our development team and donors to provide opportunities for our student-athletes and ensure their success both athletically and academically. "
Baglas has been a member of the UCSB Intercollegiate Athletics Department staff since July of 2007. In the March of 2009, she became the Marketing and Events Coordinator for the Gaucho Fund and in January of 2015, she became Senior Director of Development, a position she held until becoming the Interim Director of Development in the spring of 2017.
A two-time graduate of the University of Connecticut, Baglas earned her Bachelor of Science in sports marketing in 2004 and then her Master's Degree in sport management in 2007. Prior to her arrival in Santa Barbara, she spent one year in athletics marketing at Harvard and two at UConn.
