UCSB student-athletes have done their part in giving back to their community through the Gauchos Give Program. However, men’s soccer midfielder Fifi Baiden took his service a step further and spent three and a half weeks in his native Ghana volunteering with Orphan Aid Africa.
While growing up in Africa, Baiden was a part of the Right to Dream Academy, a charity based in Ghana that “provides a professional sports, education and leadership academy to underprivileged young talent in Africa.” Baiden remains in touch with people from the organization and together they planned a trip to bring him back to Ghana for the first time in five years.
Baiden has come a long way since his childhood and felt he had a responsibility to give back to his home by teaching the children the values of sportsmanship, team work, and hard work.
